Based on the real-life example of an average complexity, extensible modern web application, we discuss what aspects to take into account when defining an API, which 3rd parties can use to develop extensions for that web application. What is important when designing such an API? And what should be the extent of that API?
Requirements are the basis of every software solution. To ensure a software project has a successful outcome, it’s important that these requirements are converted into well thought out designs. In this presentation we will discuss the steps of the functional design process and we will review various choices you can make as functional designer. Data is generated at an ever-increasing pace, so are we moving to total democracy where science will gradually transit to citizen science? How are we treating the data produced in the public domain (paid for by taxpayer money) and are we really capitalising on the big promises? I will focus on these issues and discuss data stewardship and its impact on data analytics
